Gabrielle Simpson Gambrell, a faculty member in the Integrated Marketing and Communications department got to celebrate around the Super Bowl from a unique vantage point, as a participant in the second annual Sports Power Brunch hosted, created and founded by LaTonya P. Story of LPS Consulting PR.
The awards program celebrates the Most Powerful Women in Sports, and recognizes leading women who have made a major impact in the industry. This year’s honorees included Katie Sowers, the Offensive Assistant Coach, San Francisco 49ers; Pam Oliver, Senior Correspondent & FOX NFL Reporter, FOX Sports; Terri Carmichael Jackson, Executive Director, WNBA Players Association; and Gina Scott, Vice President, Partner Services, of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA).
The Power Brunch featured a series of panels and speakers – women who have helped shape the sports industry – including Gabrielle Simpson Gambrell, who moderated the STORYTELLERS: WOMEN IN MEDIA panel with Jennifer Alvarez, Vice President of Creative and Digital Marketing at the Miami HEAT; Mirin Fader, Staff Writer at the Bleacher Report; and Kimberley Martin, NFL Senior Writer at Yahoo Sports.
Gabrielle led a conversation around the journey that women in media take, both those who work in front of and behind the camera, with panelists addressing some of the drivers of success as well as the challenges that women face in the industry.
