Planning, Design & Construction
This course provides an overview of lodging planning, design, and development and construction process from its inception to the grand opening. Topics will focus on the identification of property location, zoning laws, local building policies and the design, planning and construction process. Students will learn about adaptive reuse of historic properties and how to analyze architectural plans and specifications. Each student will develop the plans and design of a conceptual hotel, including the design of room layouts, interior spaces, and a project budget based on construction specifications.
