Dispute Resolution & Conflict Management

This course is designed to develop skills for students to deal with managing and resolving workplace conflict. Emphasis will be placed on alternate dispute resolution methodologies, including mediation, and negotiation strategies. Extensive use of case studies as they relate to conflict resolution between peers, subordinates and superiors will be made. Classes will include role-playing and experimenting with exercises that cause conflict. A special project will include the design and implementation of an ADR program for an organization. Students successfully completing this course will have developed a strong foundation, upon which they can build, for resolving employee-relations issues.
