BIM for Virtual Design and Construction

BIM is a tool that converts standard Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Sprinkler and Structural drawings into 3D documents. This course will give the students an understanding of the benefits of using the BIM tool to increase their knowledge of the design and construction of all types of facilities. The course will demonstrate how to use BIM for numerous elements that are encountered in the planning and construction process. This will include (but not limited to): Site evaluation, Construction logistic planning, Assist in creating the means and methods that must be created by the contractor, Cost estimating, Scheduling, Coordination of all design documents, Elimination of conflicts, Constructability of all the design components, Use for the creation of shop drawings, Showing the construction of a project in real time.
