Residential Life

Commuter Students

Students enrolled in the High School Academy Career Edge program are not required to live on the NYU campus. Sometimes these students are from the local area and choose to return home after class. In other instances, students in these programs stay with family members in the City or travel to NYC with family members and choose to stay in a hotel with them. No matter what the circumstances, if you are a commuter student, you will be able to take advantage of the same benefits and activities as those students who live in the dorms.

Ava Bartolomeis
Career Edge Student Ava Bartolomeis commuted every day from New Jersey to class. Although she did not live in the dorms, she participated in many of the extracurricular activities that are open to all students.
Maggie Orientation
Maggie learned all about the activities available to her as a commuter student.

Maggie Siu traveled from Macau with family to attend Career Edge. Each day she commuted back and forth to the hotel where they were staying, while taking advantage of extracurricular evening activities that were offered.

Kimmel Center
Residential and commuter students learn about NYU facilities during a tour of the campus.

Students who are not living in the dorms can still access the Dining Halls for meals, but are not obligated to do so. They can also use all of the NYU facilities available to HS Academy students, including the library!
