Book Publishing: From Editor to Reader

Do you enjoy reading? Do you like to write? Do you see yourself possibly working in publishing—as an editor or in some other capacity? If so, this course is for you. Learn what an editor does and how a book is made, and gain insight into the world of publishing. In this course, explore the book publishing process, with a special emphasis on the art of editing, and learn to think like an editor. The most successful editors are also entrepreneurs and big thinkers who look for book ideas in a variety of places, including blogs, magazine articles, and television shows.What’s your “big idea”? How will you bring it to readers? And how do you make a manuscript the best it can be?

Ideal For

  • High school students who have completed grades 9, 10, or 11
  • High school students interested in exploring a possible career in publishing or editing

  • An understanding of what an editor does and how a book is made
  • Insight into the world of publishing
  • Knowledge of the book publishing process and the ability to think like an editor
