Summer 2023: COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement & Safety Measures
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, NYU has in place ongoing public health measures and requirements to ensure the safety of all University community members. As enrolled students in a summer program, all Career Edge students coming to campus in person must adhere to University guidelines and policies. Below are highlights of these policies as of September 2022.  More information, including updates as the pandemic evolves, can be found on NYU Returns website.  Students will also receive COVID-19-related information via NYU email and at their program orientation.

Vaccination Requirement
At this time, all members of the NYU community who will be on campus in person–students, faculty, staff, and visitors–are required to be up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots and must upload vaccination records to the NYU Student Health Center before the start of their program. Students who are not compliant with the vaccination requirement will not have access to campus buildings, facilities, or NYU-sponsored events (both on and off campus), and may be de-enrolled from their program.

Students participating in an online program who will not be on campus in person at any time during the summer do not need to submit proof of vaccination.

Students may request an exemption from the vaccination requirement for medical or religious reasons. Review of exemption requests will take approximately ten business days, so please submit your request with adequate time for review. Please be advised that even if you receive an exemption, you are required to regularly upload a negative COVID-19 test result to enter NYU buildings and facilities.

Daily Screening & Mask Requirement
All members of the NYU community—students, faculty, staff, and visitors—must also complete a Violet Go pass prior to accessing campus buildings each day. Violet Go is most easily completed on a smartphone using the NYUMobile app, but can also be completed online. Students without smartphones may print their pass prior to class at printing stations on campus.

All community members are welcomed to wear masks but not required.

Reporting, Isolation, and Quarantine Requirements
Students, faculty, and employees with symptoms; who are officially exempted from vaccination and come in close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19; who receive a positive COVID-19 test regardless of vaccination status; or are diagnosed with COVID-19 must notify the NYU COVID-19 Prevention & Response Team.

Students who contract COVID-19 must stay home and avoid contact with others while sick.  Students living on campus who test positive for COVID-19 or become symptomatic after a known exposure to COVID-19 may be required to isolate or quarantine in either their assigned room or in another designated room in their residential hall. Isolation or quarantine accommodations and meals will be provided at no additional cost. Students may opt to isolate or quarantine at home if they are able to safely travel without risk of exposure to others.

Refund Policy
We have a 100% tuition refund policy should you have to cancel your enrollment for any reason, but note that some fees may not be refundable (i.e., non-refundable application fee, housing deposit). Course drops/refund requests must be received in writing via email, sps.hsacademy@nyu.edu, at least 24 hours before the start of your course. We are not responsible for refunding any travel expenses incurred. With COVID-19, we highly suggest students and families consider purchasing travel insurance to protect their travel plans.
