  1. Weekend Workshops - NYU High School

Academic and College-Level Writing

Academic writing can be intimidating, but with the right tools, it doesn’t have to be. This course will introduce you to the kind of writing assignments you will encounter as college students, so that you will have tools to navigate this transition successfully. Through short reading and writing exercises, you will learn to work with the fundamental concepts of academic writing that all students and scholars use: closely analyzing and questioning texts, reasoning with evidence, organizing your ideas, articulating them in clear and effective prose, and engaging in revision and editing. By the end of the course, you will be thinking and writing more like a college student, and have successfully completed one revised, college-level essay.
