Publishing Boot Camp: Marketing and Publicity

Every book may have an audience, but finding and reaching that audience takes skill, strategy, and a team of experts. In this Marketing and Publicity Boot Camp, students will explore the latest best practices for targeting the right readers for a book, and how to use social media, marketing analytics, influencers, and more to raise awareness and convert interest to sales. Students will build marketing and publicity plans for hypothetical titles, learn how to pivot quickly when needed, and work with authors, sales teams, retail outlets, and book clubs to help a book sell. This boot camp is most helpful for those with some knowledge of the publishing process, although it is not required.
This course is part of the Publishing Boot Camp Series, a collaboration between the NYUSPS Center for Publishing, and Center for Applied Liberal Arts.
