Portuguese I

Brazil shares a border with nine countries; come expand your own borders in this course, designed for absolute beginners, or those with very basic knowledge of Portuguese. Fundamental language patterns and common daily vocabulary of Brazilian Portuguese are introduced. Learn how to greet people, introduce yourself, express needs as well as likes and dislikes, and talk about daily activities. The course focuses on all four core skill areas (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), while emphasizing pronunciation and grammar. Become more familiar with topics in Brazilian culture related to food, ways of life, and customs. Classes are conducted in Portuguese to the extent possible.
Students are strongly encouraged to register by Wednesday, September 12, 2018 to ensure a seat in the class. Please contact the Department of Foreign Languages at sps.foreignlanguages@nyu.edu with any questions, or call 212-998-7150 to register.
