What Is American in American Art, 1975-Present: From Protest Art to Now

This course provides a practical and historical survey of American art movements since 1975. Sessions will be held in the classroom, galleries, and a museum, where you will be given “hands-on” experience in examining paintings, drawings, and sculpture. The uniqueness of the American market and the ways that values are established will be addressed. Among the movements to be discussed are protest art, feminism and black art, photorealism, the neos, installation and video art, graffiti art, and street art.
