John Dumicich

Clinical Assistant Professor

John Dumicich is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the ALI. He is an ESL teacher, teacher trainer, educational filmmaker, and author. He has conducted worldwide English language teaching seminars, receiving American specialist grants from the US Department of State and USAID. He has taught at Harvard University, Teachers College at Columbia University, and CUNY. He has published many ESL textbooks, including Drawing on Experience, a textbook which uses drawing to generate language. He was the Academic on Location for the Annenberg/McGraw-Hill/PBS Connect with English ESL TV series. He also wrote and starred in English language learning programs for NHK, educational television in Japan. His current work focuses on initial stages of learning another language, devising criteria to assess language proficiency levels, and constructing language level appropriate curricula.
