Monica Valentina Sanz specializes in economic and financial analysis related to banks, country risk, and capital markets. She is a VP at AIG Investments covering emerging market financial sectors.  Monica joined AIG from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York where she led a team of financial analysts responsible for producing policy-relevant analysis related to global banks.  She has covered and written about several topics related to the European financial crisis, including banks’ ability to extend credit to the economy, sovereign risk, IMF programs, and banks’ and countries’ access to capital markets.  Monica’s professional experience also includes working as an AVP in the capital markets group within Citigroup’s treasury and as an analyst at Morgan Stanley Capital International. Monica earned a master’s degree in economics from New York University and also holds a B.A. in economics and a B.A. in Latin American Studies from The Johns Hopkins University.
