Thomas Wetmore

Tom Wetmore is a pianist, composer, bandleader, and ethnomusicologist based in New York City. He received his M.A. in Music from Columbia University, his M.M. in Jazz Studies (Performance) from William Paterson University, and his B.A. from Cornell University. His current academic research focuses on jazz, African American music, race, and technology. At Columbia, Wetmore has conducted lectures and seminars on jazz, African American music, and Western classical music. He is currently editing a compilation of scholarly writing on jazz, and beginning in Fall 2017 he will serve as Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed journal Current Musicology. He teaches the History of Jazz:  A History of America at NYUSPS in the Center for Applied Liberal Arts.
