Linda Ciano

Clinical Assistant Professor

Linda Ciano is a Language Lecturer at the ALI with 25 years’ experience in the field of TESOL.  In addition to teaching English in Japan, she has taught in the CUNY Language Immersion Program and in university ESL programs throughout New York City.  She served as Academic Director at Aspect Manhattan College and was Intensive Program Coordinator at the ALI for seven years.  She earned a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL, and has a Certificate in Online Course Creation and Instruction from NYU, and has designed online courses for the ALI’s Academic English Program, Professional English Program, and Advanced Diploma in TESOL.  Her publications include “Online Tutoring and the Offshoring of Education” and “Special Considerations When Teaching Non-Native English Speakers in an Online Environment.”

This integrated-skills course covers listening, speaking, reading, and writing for students with little or no formal English training.

ESL Essentials 2

This integrated-skills course covers English listening, speaking, reading, and writing for students with high-beginner-level English ability.

ESL Topics 3/4

This elective course for low-intermediate speakers of English covers various topics that change each semester.
