Program Description

By educating the next generation of retail operations managers from across the United States and the world, the Diploma in Retail Operations Management will help to meet the growing and evolving personnel demands of the retail management industry. This diploma is designed to train entry-level and department managers for advanced positions, while developing their critical decision-making skills. The Diploma provides nonretail associates, retail associates, and retail department managers with the enhanced knowledge, expertise, insights, and skills required to become a retail buyer, a retail merchandiser, or a retail operations management trainee. In addition, it offers the opportunity for retail store management professional growth.

For advertising, public relations, and brand management executives, this diploma will afford additional insight into customer management decision processes, thus enhancing overall retail operations knowledge. The Diploma in Retail Operations Management also provides key industry information and expertise that presently are not available to those who choose retail operations as their profession. Courses serve as building blocks to be used by retail management to determine job and position advancement.

Work Product

As a student in this program, you are required to create a portfolio of assignments showcasing your understanding of, and ability to apply, retail operations concepts. This portfolio will consist of the following elements:

  • Completed case studies relevant to retail operation polices and procedures
  • Completed group projects that reflect retail store operations, including the techniques taught in the specific courses and overall diploma topics
  • Completed PowerPoint presentations that demonstrate a plan for maximizing store operations, to be reviewed and critiqued by a panel of industry experts
