Introduction to Spanish Literature

Sharpen your Spanish language skills by reading and discussing selected short stories from around the Spanish-speaking world. This course offers a unique combination of immersion in the wealth of Spanish literature with a structured focus on vocabulary, grammar, and improvement of your spoken fluency. Album: Cuentos del mundo hispánico, whose short stories appear in order of increasing difficulty, is used as a primary textbook. Each week is dedicated to reading, discussing, and analyzing a different short story together in class, in addition to participating in relevant vocabulary and grammar exercises. This course is recommended for learners who want to deepen their language experience and prepare themselves for other courses or who simply want to learn how to enjoy reading Spanish literature on their own. Course content changes every semester, so this course may be taken more than once. Classes are conducted almost entirely in Spanish.

Students are strongly encouraged to register by Wednesday, January 30, 2019 to help ensure a seat in the class. Please contact the Department of Foreign Languages at sps.foreignlanguages@nyu.edu with any questions, or call 212-998-7150 to register.
