Build upon what you learned in Japanese I, or its equivalent, in a communicative learning environment. Deepen your understanding of the Japanese culture while expanding your knowledge of the language. The te-form of verbs is introduced to expand the range of your conversational skills, along with other grammatical structures which will allow you to initiate conversations, make suggestions and requests, and control the direction of conversations. Reading and writing focus on reviewing all 46 characters of the Hiragana alphabet and introducing all 46 characters of the Katakana alphabet. Classes are conducted in Japanese to the extent possible.
