Issues in a Globalizing Economy

This course facilitates a comprehensive understanding of essential facets of economic globalization and develops critical thinking applied to assessing issues relevant to economic globalization as they arise. The course explores the forces both driving and resisting globalization and will encourage students to examine the mechanisms of economic globalization and their impact on people within the context of differing social and economic realities. In addition to readings, video segments, and weekly forum discussions, students also will participate in projects that encourage independent thinking. Topics include assessing a multilateral institution’s facilitation of economic globalization, exploring how a multinational enterprise impacts and is impacted by economic globalization, and addressing national policies relevant to the challenges and opportunities of economic globalization.
