The Art of Drawing Sculpture at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

In the uniquely beautiful backdrop of the Met Museum, sketch and draw three-dimensional representations on two-dimensional surfaces, finding inspiration in the vast collection of figurative sculptures from all over the world and through the ages. In this evening course, explore various drawing principles, including simplifying volumes in space, and learn to apply structure, anatomy, triangulation, line and form, and shading and tone. By utilizing a variety of drawing materials, experience how medium influences technique. With access to the Met’s drawing study room, the class will analyze actual drawings from history and their relationship to the drawing practices today. Submerge yourself in the history and aesthetics of one of the world’s greatest museums. All levels are welcome.
