Global Affairs and Fundraising Certificate in Infrastructure Security and Resilience
Diploma Description
Industry and government organizations rely on a complex network of external dependencies, known as critical infrastructure, to sustain business functions and reliability. An interruption can lead to a variety of significant consequences, ranging from a loss of critical services to impacts on corporate revenue and survivability. As such, leaders turn to analysts and business continuity professionals to assist with decision-making regarding comprehensive risk reduction—the science of understanding environmental threats and hazards, reduction of physical and cyber vulnerabilities, and consequence mitigation. Thoughtful preparedness planning leads to more resilient organizations and societies.
In the Certificate in Infrastructure Security and Resilience, students explore infrastructure taxonomy and the governing legislative and regulatory framework. By reviewing case studies, students then focus on defining and quantifying those external all-hazards poised to interrupt normal business or government function and explore the various critical infrastructure risk analysis models. The focus then shifts to vulnerability and resilience gap analysis. Students acquire an introductory understanding of physical and cybersecurity assessments, dependency and resilience gap analysis, and general infrastructure preparedness activities. Next, students develop and deliver resilience enhancement options and vulnerability reducing recommendations. Lastly, students learn to function as critical infrastructure professionals within the incident command system and have the requisite education to support emergency operations centers. This certificate program provides students with the full range of critical infrastructure protection and resilience skills needed to effectively support managers and leaders across both private and public sectors.
This program, with three required courses, is offered in sequence and has been designed to be taken over the course of one semester. Click here to add yourself to a notification list to receive updates and more information on this Certificate once it becomes available.
