Marianne Engle, PhD, a clinical psychologist licensed in both California and New York, specializes in child and adolescent psychology. As a sports psychologist, she is active in working with schools, coaches, and teams of youth athletes as well as elite and professional athletes and teams. Her clients have included teams of the NBA, PGA players, the A3 Women’s Team of the 1995 America’s Cup, and ice skating national champions. In addition, she has worked with individual athletes and coaches in many sports such as swimming, squash, baseball, volleyball, tennis, water polo, soccer, and football. She has held faculty and research positions at Harvard University, MIT, the University of California, San Diego and the Langone NYU Medical School. She is the author of Beyond Expectations, a sports psychology manual for middle and high school coaches and teams. She is a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Sports and Society. She was the featured guest on a PBS special on Adolescent Peer Pressure, which won an Emmy.
