Gary Bettman is the commissioner of the National Hockey League (NHL). He oversaw the expansion of the NHL's footprint across the United States, with six new teams added during his tenure. In less than 20 years, he helped increase the sport’s revenue by a factor of 7, from 400 million dollars to over 3 billion dollars. He has negotiated the largest NHL television contracts, including the most recent 10-year, 2 billion dollar deal with Comcast. In 2013, he negotiated a 12 year 5.2 billion dollar contract with Rogers Communications for rights to broadcast NHL games in Canada.
