Building Inclusive Cities: One-on-One with Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne

On February 7, 2017, the NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) Schack Institute of Real Estate Urban Lab presented a one-on-one conversation with the Premier of Ontario, Kathleen Wynne, about building inclusive cities. In a discussion with Urban Lab Distinguished Fellow Richard Florida, Premier Wynne focused on the important role of inclusive prosperity in today's cities and offered insight into our most pressing urban challenges, including affordable housing, healthcare, and public transit. As a champion of diversity and inclusivity, Premier Wynne has helped transform Ontario into a fairer, more dynamic place to live and work—all while reclaiming the province's status as Canada's leading economic engine. Under the Premier's leadership, Ontario has quickly become a testbed for some of the most innovative solutions to urban inequality, including a universal basic income pilot program, a minimum wage hike, and an expanded access to free education and medicine.
